Last week, Google released a news post announcing their continuing ambition to make the web more mobile friendly.

Google referred to the big mobile friendly update they made last April. For many SEOs worldwide, it was known as 'mobilegeddon.' It sounds extreme but as we weren't entirely sure what would happen after the update, it's not surprising many SEOs and marketers were feeling uneasy.

Mobile friendly update in May

Google is planning to roll out a new update at the beginning of May that will affect mobile friendly website.

They said:

"Today we’re announcing that beginning in May, we’ll start rolling out an update to mobile search results that increases the effect of the ranking signal to help our users find even more pages that are relevant and mobile-friendly."

If your website is already mobile friendly, you have no need to worry. In fact, you may even see an increase in your page rankings.

However, if you still haven't made your site mobile friendly, it's important you do so ASAP.

Last year, Google gave plenty of time for website owners to adapt to their mobile update on April 21st.
